Cho Cho San

I am very excited to inform you that I have found a great new Japanese Izakaya. Brought to you by restaurateurs Sam Christie and Jonathan Barthelmess, the brainchild behind Longrain and The Apollo. Also joined by young head chef, Nicholas Wong (ex-Ester, Bodega, Billy Kwong and Rockpool). We just had our dinner there and the food is earth-rockingly brilliant!

Kicking off with beef tataki with wild rice and ginger dressing from the raw bar
Toasted crab bun (my personal favourite!) and pork katsu steam bun

Silken tofu in tomato dashi
Calamari with lime ponzu from the hibachi grill
Enoki mushroom with spring onions infused in truffle oil. The mushrooms were delicate, flavourful and they're oh so aromatic!
Big and juicy grilled king prawns and deep fried prawn heads

Their soy glazed Wagyu beef is indescribably excellent

There's nothing more comforting than a steamed yuzu pudding on a cold night
If you love matcha green tea soft serve you're gonna love it here

Every dish was perfect and and we could not fault anything. Overall, we couldn't recommend Cho Cho San highly enough! If you are ever vaguely in the area, please promise me you'll go?
